Sri Devi

Sridevi
Born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyappan (1963), Sridevi has often been referred to as the “first Indian Female Superstar”. In a film career spanning 50 years, she has acted in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi films. Beginning her career as a child artiste in 1967 till her final movie (yet to be released) in 2018, she acted with every top actor of her times. She was hugely popular for her role in films like Sadma, Chaalbaaz, Khudagawah, English Vinglish, Chandni, Mr. India, Tohfa, Lamhe etc. She received the Padma Shri from the Government of India in 2013. It is very unfortunate that the film industry lost her recently at a young age of 54, with much of her potential still unexplored. DIFF salutes Sridevi’s contribution to Indian Cinema and pays homage to one of the greatest Indian Actors of all times
